Launching Push Button in 2003, Park Seung Gun was immediately marked as a young designer to watch. Since the launch, Push Button has gone on to become one of South Korea’s strongest brands, every year satisfying their expectant audience with another collection of bold and innovative designs.
As with all the great brands, Push Button has a very distinctive DNA. Obviously heavily influenced by eighties fashion and icons, Push Button’s collections are awash with neon yellows and pinks, and bursting full of leopard skin and other loud, brash and confident prints. There is a quirkiness that sometimes becomes an almost goofiness in Park Seung Gun’s designs, which in an industry that often takes itself far too seriously, is a welcome relief, and gives the brand a distinctive and friendly personality.
Park Seung Gun’s playful designs have been wowing audiences and critics alike for a number of years now, and this consistency of creativity was recognised in 2013 when he was awarded the CFDK Prize. As ambitious as much as he is talented, great things are surely to follow for Park Seung Gun and Push Button.
