Seoul Fashion Week F/W 2011: Men’s Collection

The Seoul Fashion Week F/W 2011 was a great success.  The event opened with a bang as Korean celebrities and Korean designers collaborated to showcase their talent.  Budding designers were able to introduce and show their collection for Fall and Winter 2011.  The Generation X were given the chance to prove their craftsmanship and experience when it comes to fashion.

The Seoul Men’s Collection was highlighted with designs from Beyond Closet, General Idea, D.Gnak and MVIO.  Spotted on the runway were dress shirts, minimalist style, slacks and suits.

General Idea

Choi Bum Suk is the designer behind this brand.  He first launched his avant-garde label in 2004.  He has worked in Dongdaemun which is the fashion market of Seoul.  He drew inspiration from Dongdaemun in his collection.  His collection were shown at the New York Fashion Week and produced a collection for Puma.  He also collaborated with Mild Seven, Heineken and more.

RESURRECTION

The designer behind this brand is creative director and Parson’s graduate Lee Ju Young.  She created the brand with functionality in mind.  She’s is famous for creating gothic and edgy garments.  Her designs have been spotted on Lady Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas. Her inspiration is her mother who is also a well known fashion designer.

MVIO

This smart menswear brand is quite popular among Koreans.  This brand was created in 1995 by creative director Han Sang Hyuk.  The brand focuses on smart and modern take of the office wear.  Korean celebrities like Super Junior’s Kyu Hyun and actor Kim Bum have been spotted wearing MVIO’s collection.

BEYOND CLOSET

Ko Tae Young launched a label in 2008 at the age of 27 which made him the youngest designer at the Seoul Fashion Week for years ago.  His collection includes suits with a modern twist.  He has designed outfits for Kim Beom and Lee Min Ho for Boys Over Flowers.
