IU on Billboard!

On January 11th (American time), billboard.com featured IU on its homepage, introducing its audience to the fever surrounding her with the title “Singer IU Spends Fifth Week at No. 1.”

The article read, “Teen solo artist IU has started the New Year in exactly the same way she closed out 2011: On top of the world and the charts. Her recently released single, ‘You and I,’ has been perched atop the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks and running.”

Billboard stated, “Most singers tend to stay at number one for only a short period of time,” lending more weight to IU’s achievement.

IU has received a lot of attention for her unique color and image. Billboard commented, “She gives off a unique vibe because of the combination of her voice, which is similar to Britain’s Corrine Bailey Rae, and her cute teenage charms.”

Besides IU, Billboard also introduced the other singers who have made it to number one since its K-Pop chart was implemented. Its hall of fame includes Davichi’s “Don’t Say Goodbye,” which spent three weeks at the top; Huh Gak’s “Hello,” and T-ARA’s “Cry Cry,” which both claimed the top spot for two weeks.
