Multi award-winning designer Im Seonoc is one of South Korea’s most influential and creative fashion designers. Originally a graphic designer, during a business trip she was hugely impressed by the Bunka Fashion College’s ‘Japan Black Look’, so much so that she quit her graphic design job and enrolled at the prestigious fashion college. Her ability was soon apparent and this was confirmed when she graduated with the the Bunka Fashion College Top Design prize.
Im Seonoc’s brand, PartspARTs is perhaps one of the more interesting brands in existence. In essence, more than just a brand, it is a concept, a brand that is intertwined with technology, developing an alternative fashion by the use of sustainable technology for progressive pragmatists. In essence, it is a brand that looks to the future for its inspiration, a brand where the clothes and the technology that make them are in a harmonious unison, producing great clothing but leaving no waste, the environment being a key concern for Seonoc.
In terms of what Im Seonoc’s designs look like, there is an overwhelming sense of balance within them. Simple lines and a healthy dose of minimalism combine easily with the decorative and the intricate. In Im Seonoc’s own words, “PartspARTs is all about practicality, perfection and simple production process. PartspARTs makes ordinary people feel special and comfortable”.
With perhaps one of the clearest brand identities in fashion, Im Seonoc wants to push the boundaries of of fashion and art, and take the brand into the genre of lifestyle, thus not just limiting itself to just clothing. With her already considerable success, and her selection for Vogue Talents by Italy Vogue in 2013, the future looks very bright for Im Seonoc and PartspARTs.
