Kermit Tesoro is a Filipino designer who is known for his fashion forward heel-less shoes. His shoe collection was featured in London Fashion Week. French designer Florian Jayet collaborated with Kermit Tesoro for his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Skull heels, heel-less wedges and platforms where featured in the runway show.
During the runway show at the London Fashion Week he showcased some of his greatest creations for Florian’s collection. He showed off his nude and off white hued shoes. Some of the shoes were embellished with studs. The shoes look simple but the design are innovative and very modern. They are not your typical platforms since it feature extraordinary aesthetics. The heel-less wedges are sky high yet wearable.
Kermit’s greatest achievement to date is his collaboration with fellow Filipino artist Leeroy New. The collaboration between two artists yielded the outfit that Lady Gaga wore in her latest album cover. The singer wore a black rubber top and shorts which was created by Kermit and Leeroy. Kermit aside from being a shoe designer is also a famous fashion designer in the Philippines. Leeroy New is a known for his avant garde sculpture. The rubber armor is seen on Lady Gaga’s cover of her hit single “Marry the Night”.
Kermit Tesoro graduated with a Visual Communications degree in the University of the Philippines- Diliman College of Fine Arts. He also took up fashion design and fashion marketing in Fashion Institute of the Philippines and the School of Fashion and the Arts. He has been gracing the runways of the Philippine Fashion Week since 2009.
Kermit Tesoro’s shoe collection includes platforms, booties, stilettos and heel-less wedges. The price ranges from $300-$800. His shoes are sold online.
